3.0 out of 5 stars Functions well but there is a problem, November 6, 2009

The good: save water and electricity
    The bad: serious design defect

We bought this LG washer recently to replace our over-10-year-old washer. We were excited to get this since it looks nice and is energy efficient. It does what it says: use significantly less water and wash clothes clean. However, we found a big problem with the washer. Every time we start the washer, our house water pipes will shake violently for about one minute. The strong vibration occurs on pipes some distance from the water tap and is caused by rapid engaging of the on/off valve of the LG washer as it starts. As we never saw this kind of vibration with our old washer, we contacted LG and a technician came over. It appears that this situation is not unique to us, as the technician had responded to other similar complaints in the area. Furthermore, we were told older houses (>10 year) are more likely to have this kind of air hammering effect. We are concerned that the strong vibration may cause... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Entry Level Front Load Washer, August 16, 2009
This review is from: LG Washer Front Control, 3.5 Cu Ft - White
I purchased this washer along with the matching dyer model DLE1310W from Home Depot for around $600 each. I wasn't sure what to expect from a front load washer, or an LG brand appliance. I wanted something a little quieter since my apartment has the hookups inside. After looking at top loaders (I've always had) I decided to go with this washer because front loaders are supposed to be quieter, more efficient, and cheaper to operate. I have been very pleased all the way around. Although the washer looks like it has a ton of settings, it's easy to use by just selecting a certain wash type such as "normal". You must use HE type detergent, and I have found the it is indeed very efficient. You get a lot of mileage out of a bottle of suds now! The washer is not only easy to use, but it is quiet as well. With the laundry closet door shut, you can barely hear it running, although it does get a bit louder in the spin cycle. It's still a HUGE improvement over any top loader I have owned. With a... 5.0 out of 5 stars Bought to save water, September 7, 2009

We bought a LG WM2010CW front loader washer in July 09 mainly to save water in our 17 year old country septic system. We had a still working 9 year old Maytag washer with a high capacity 45 gals per super wash and this new LG washer only takes 16 gals for the largest load (measured with the digital meter on our water softner). We are very satisfied so far after over a month using the new LG washer and also bought the matching dryer: with various dealer plus energy star [...] and selling our used older units for [...], the LG W/D combo only cost slightly [...] on sale including sales tax. Perhaps this Fall 2009 there will be US government "cash for clunkers" style additional [...] on new Energy Star washers, you may save another $50! We got ours on a special must by both washer & dryer for [...] total deal from a local appliance dealer.

This washer is very easy to use and gets the clothes as clean or cleaner then the old top loader Maytag that literally soaked them in... Read more
