GTWP1000MWW GTWP1000MWW Top Load Washer This may not be the particular model, however I question any GE model after our 2 year old washer started having issues. When dis-assembled I was disgusted by the quality of this machine. Cheap parts were used and were almost completely corroded away. Further inspection revealed the reason for failure was the hub which had completely corroded and made me sick to think that I am wearing clothes that are washed in this machine. I also looked at every scenario on how this is our fault, but we run soft water, a load never sits for more than an hour, and this machine is never loaded past capacity. Other issues included external parts corroded in dry zones of this machine, and replacement parts may be very expensive almost half the price of the machine itself. I strongly suggest to do some research and dont be blinded by sales. Quality products will last in the long run, there is no need for buying a cheap washer that will only last a couple years and end up as scrap. This will just be more... Read more |

OK, that might be a little overly dramatic, but now i just walk into the bathroom, throw my clothes in and have them come out super clean and (usually, mostly) dry, instead of lugging loads up and down several flights of stairs to find that someone else was already using the sketchy machines that stained and burned my clothes and ate my quarters. The front loading washer gets clothes much cleaner than standard top loading agitator machines, like other HE machines, the wash cycles takes longer than standard top loaders. The condensation dryer works surprisingly well, the '2 hour autodry' usually finishes in less than 2 hours and if the load is as small as they reccommend everything is dry. however, i tend to fill the machine with what it can hold to wash (for two adults and a 10 month old) and even then almost everything is dry, i just usually throw towels or jeans or anything else that's still wet back in for another... Stay away from HAIER and this unit. We bought it brand new, and on it's first use it didn't dry clothes at all. After 10 hours, it still wouldn't even dry one bath towel. We called Haier, who sent a service guy over. He discovered that the washer was not working properly either. He told us that everybody who buys the combo unit complains about the dryer. So now we have this new machine that does not work at all. Haier will not refund our money until they determine that they can't fix it. They came to fix the combo 2 times already. Haier will not admit that this combo is unfixable!!! We have been dealing with them for 3 months, and they still tell us that they (and we) have to wait for backordered parts. My advice STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMBO AND THE HAIER BRAND. Our attorney is now involved. It held about three times my old Kenmore did, used about 1/4th the water which is amazing for a top-loader. It washed everything from my husbands greasy jeans to towels to sheets to delicate undies with ease. Its incredibly quiet and fast. I love this washer. Ive always owned top load machines and have used front loaders and just dont care for them so Im glad manufactuers have found a way to incorporate the energy efficiency of front loaders into this top loader. It takes a bit of getting used to seeing a tub without an agitator and I initially wondered how it would move the clothes around to get them washed and rinsed. The glass top lets you watch and its fun to see it work. Before buying this washer I researched online and in stores and narrowed down the models to this Samsung, a Maytag and LG. This time it was bearing and main spindle failure.....a common problem for high capacity front loaders we later found out. Well, our large family goes through a LOT of laundry and after having suffered 4 separate trouble service calls on the unbalancable, loud, always fickle front loading LG we decided to go back to the top loaders which also work much better for felting (to satisfy my house full of wonderfully compulsive knitters).We bought this and the matching dryer at a local Lowes for about $750ea. on a customer appreciation sale and we are extremely glad we did! The loads are wonderfully clean, but do use more water than our front loader, but far less than a conventional top loader. It's cavernous stainless steel tub is wonderful and even though they say to only fill it to 75%, that's still a mountain of clothes....a 20% capacity improvement over our old high capacity... We actually bought it because of it's size and now wish we bought the front load so I could reach it. It is higher off the ground to accommodate the deeper drum..Well I cannot reach the bottom of it to remove the clothes. I didn't think it would be a big deal but the more I use it the more I hate it. My shoulder is killing me as I type. My husband is 5'10 and has no problems but he does not do the laundry I do. It DOES do a fabulous job cleaning and I would definitely buy a Samsung again but not this one. |
